A great time to visit the Harz with the family is 30th April for the walpurgisnacht festival. There are great  parties in most of the towns and villages to celibrate walpurgisnacht, the night from 30 April to 1 May, is the night when witches are reputed to hold a large celebration on the Brocken (north Germany’s highest mountain) and await the arrival of spring.
