The hexenstieg is a “classic” walk in the National park Harz. The route is 96km long, starts in Osterode, finishes in Thale and passes over the Brocken (highest mountain in north Germany).

25th June 2011 is the next round of the Harz MTB cup, The Wurmberg MTB marathon held in Braunlage with race distances for all levels from beginner to expert.

This weekend is a round of the women’s national championship ski jumping in Braunlage. A great event to watch with the family, if you have never seen it up close before go along and see how hard it really is.

English speaking Stammtisch

We now have an English speaking Stammtisch on the first thursday of each month, with english teachers from the local Mortimer english school. If you are an ex pat living in the Harz or want to improve or practice speaking english why not come along.

Meet up at 1830 and we have some planned activities Some nights a whisky tasting, maybe Karaoke, a pub quiz or a games night why not join in.

Ski & Snowboard Sale

Right in the middle of the summer holidays the perfect time to start thinking about winter sports, strange but true. Here in the Hotel we need to make some space in the ski hire shop for this seasons new skis arriving in October, so we are selling some of the old skis, snowboards & boots.

Prices start from 50€ for skis with bindings, from 90€ for snowboards with Flow bindings, and boots from 20€ per pair.

Mountain Biking in the Harz

The fantastic summer weather is helping the mountainbike season to be great this year. The Downhill park in Braunlage is in full swing & the rental station of Zweirad Busche is now offering downhill courses by the hour, half day or full day. So you can now learn some technique under tuition to help with the tricky jumps & rocks on the way down. You can bring all your own gear or rent a full set of protectors, helmet & downhill bike to learn a new sport.

The winter is gone and summer is here so time to go mountainbiking. The downhill park in braunlage is open and all the trails through the National park are clear and the weather is good.

This weekend 29 – 30 May is the first of the Harz MTB cup races, this one being held in Altenau. There are race distances and catagories for all classes from kids & novice riders to the old & bold experts.
